CIVIL – Center for Freedom is organizing a seminar for training and coordination of 28 long-term observers of the referendum from throughout the country, at Hotel City Park, Skopje, on Sunday, September 16. A larger part of these observers are already in operation since September 10. The observers at the seminar will receive detailed guidelines for intensive observation of the process of implementing the referendum from several aspects.
The permanent collaborators and observers of the situation of human rights who are in CIVIL’s structure, received guidelines for observing the situation related to the referendum back in June this year. In the period from June until now, CIVIL has noted intensifying of the divisions and tensions along ethnic and political lines, intensifying of the black campaign, fake news and hate speech. Moreover, the political parties, the organizations and institutions at the local and national level that are involved in the process of implementing the referendum, are also in CIVIL’s focus.
In addition to the detailed guidelines, the participants at CIVIL’s seminar will receive safety training, training on preparation of reports and will share information on-site on all forms of pressures, manipulations and violation of the right to vote.
This seminar is within the framework of the project “I vote, therefore I am”, financed by the US Embassy in Skopje.
The trainings for the short-term observers are planned for the following weekend (September 22 and 23).
