There is no bad time for good reforms. Changes in the education system are not hastened but based on the 2018-2025 Education Strategy. Analyses have been done for years on the type of education we need, says Minister of Education and Science Mila Carovska.
Minister Carovska told TV Klan it is time to make a step forward, because every lost minute with poor education costs the country with regards to preparing the human potential for the future.
“The new primary education concept has one major goal – to ensure a new system of learning in accordance with global standards. Our goal is not to cancel curricula, textbooks or reduce classes. All disciplines are embedded in the new concept too,” said Carovska and added that the opposition has not provided a single constructive proposal for the concept’s improvement.
The concept will be implemented in stages, with the first and fourth grades to be incorporated as of September.
“The country does not have another decade to discuss whether a new concept of education should be implemented in the first grade. At one point, we must decide to launch the reforms. We lose the opportunity to join the developed countries that have quality education systems if we only do analyses,” notes Carovska.
She adds that the reforms are fully funded by the country’s international partners and the World Bank, because they believe this is in the best interest of the pupils.
