Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski said Monday he left VMRO-DPMNE to decide over the format of Wednesday’s meeting with party leader Hristijan Mickoski, reiterating that the topics would be the decisions set to be adopted over the country’s European integration and the activities of all political stakeholders in relations with neighbors, transmits MIA.
“The invitation has been extended to VMRO-DPMNE, clearly saying they can choose the format for the meeting – 1+0, 1+1, 1+2 – depending on how much they trust each other. I left the VMRO-DPMNE leadership or its leader to decide. The meeting will take place on Wednesday at 11 a.m. and will tackle two topics – decisions set to be adopted over the country’s European integration and the activities of all political stakeholders in relations with neighbors. These are a couple of exceptionally important topics that concern the country’s integration and its faster EU integration,” PM Kovachevski told reporters.
He said there are two concepts in the country: one is the concept of European Macedonia and the second, led by Levica, for an isolated North Macedonia.
“I hope VMRO-DPMNE will manage to support a decision, something they have not done for the past 32 years, that will integrate the country into the EU. The decision is very easy – EU integration on one side, isolation on the other. I hope all politicians will choose what the citizens want – EU integration,” said Kovachevski.
The PM expects an open discussion at the meeting, expressing hope they will find common ground on how to resume on the EU integration path.
“There is a window of opportunity to join the EU and we have to seize it,” added Kovachevski.
