Together with some 800 miners from the Zletovo and Toranica mines, Interior Minister attended an event marking Miners Day, Aug. 28, during which certificates of appreciation were given to best miners and teams, transmits news agency MIA.
“Your jobs are some of the most difficult and dangerous, and essential for the development of a country’s industry,” Minister Spasovski wrote in a Facebook post.
“Our country has a large and valuable abundance of mineral resources, so it is especially important for us to develop this branch toward ensuring economic growth.” He added that the long-standing request to reduce miners’ retirement age has been met, correcting a great injustice. Now miners, he pointed out, could retire at age 50, after working for 40 years if they were men or after working for 35 years if they were women.
“We continue to improve and develop the mining sector together,” he wrote, sending his best wishes to miners.
