Kosovo’s Prime Minister Albin Kurti congratulated North Macedonia and Albania on their official start of negotiations with the European Union, MIA’s Prishtina correspondent reports.
In a Twitter post, Kurti said Kosovo was celebrating Tirana’s and Skopje’s historic achievement.
“Congratulations to Albania and North Macedonia for opening accession negotiations with the European Union. Kosova celebrates your historical achievement and joins in your commitment towards reforms that will transform your countries and strengthen our region and Europe,” Kurti wrote.
Earlier, Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani also congratulated the countries on their opening of EU talks and “taking one step closer to the EU,” she wrote, calling for an accelerated enlargement process for Western Balkan democracies.
