CIVIL is organizing a panel discussion titled “The Nationalism of the Political Street” that will be held on Thursday, July 14, 2022, starting at 1.00 pm, at CIVIL’s Press Center in the Paloma Bjanka Business Center, 3rd floor.
At this panel discussion, a discussion will be lead on several aspects of the nationalist narrative that has become an accompanying element of the current protests against the European proposal for accession negotiations for EU membership of North Macedonia. Some of the issues that will be discussed are as follows:
- Do and what kind of responsibility the inspirers and organizers of the protests have?
- What is the connection between the nationalist narrative aimed at the interethnic relations in the country and the European solution for the start of the EU negotiations?
- What are the consequences of the ethnic hatred at the protests to the interethnic relations and democratic processes in society in general?
- Are the relevant institutions taking any measures in this period, and what kind?
Representatives of the expert community, civil society, the government and a high representative of VMRO-DPMNE have all been invited to the panel discussion, and several members of CIVIL’s management will participate with short presentations.
The event is part of the project „ A step forward towards a multicultural society”, funded by the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.
The length of these events is usually 60-90 minutes. The event will be broadcast live on CIVIL’s Facebook page and YouTube video channel.
