All four requests by VMRO-DPMNE have already been incorporated into the French proposal for the EU negotiation framework, Deputy Prime Minister of European Affairs Bojan Marichikj and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bujar Osmani said in a national TV appearance Monday evening, writes MIA.
Minister Osmani said it was good the opposition had started talking about specifics. “Until a few days ago, people spoke with emotion, which is perhaps legitimate, so we should not criticize them,” Osmani said.
“I saw their four requests and let me say, if this is indeed what they are requesting, we should accept the [French] proposal because it already incorporates all those requests.”
He said the most important issue was that the negotiating framework recognized the Macedonian language as being autonomous. If North Macedonia accepts the proposal, according to the foreign minister, the first intergovernmental conference could start the very same day.
“This way,” he said, “we would immediately mobilize the entire administration, with experts from Brussels immediately starting to make evaluations” as part of the screening process for EU accession negotiations.
