Bulgaria will not change its position on North Macedonia by the end of the year and will not approve the country’s negotiating framework with the EU, announced the press service of the transitional government of Bulgaria.
As MIA correspondent reported, the Government approved the position of Bulgaria to participate in the meeting of the General Affairs Council on December 14. Bulgaria will keep to the Declaration of the National Assembly of October 10, 2019 on the EU Enlargement and the Process of Stabilization and Association of the Republic of North Macedonia and the Republic of Albania, as well as to the Framework position on the European perspective of the Republic of North Macedonia and Albania adopted by the Council ofMinisters on October 9, 2019 and supported by the Declaration of the National Assembly of October 10, 2019, informs the Bulgarian government press service.
At the same time, official Sofia considers that Tirana is ready to start negotiations for EU membership.
-Nevertheless, the two countries at the moment are moving in a package towards the EU. For Bulgaria, the main principle of each candidate’s own merits remains decisive. Bulgaria considers that Albania is ready to progress on the EU path and is ready to support the adoption of the Negotiating Framework for the country and the holding of the first Intergovernmental Conference, is said in the announcement of the Bulgarian Press Service.
