Coordination has been established at all levels with the Republic of Northern Macedonia and we hope that from the investigation we will learn those lessons that will protect us from similar tragedies in the future. This was said by the Prime Minister Stefan Janev in a joint statement with the Prime Minister of RSM Zoran Zaev who is in Bulgaria regarding the bus accident in which 46 people died.
– Today is marked by two tragedies for the Bulgarian people – in the Varna village of Royak, Bulgarian citizens died in the Home for the Elderly, for which an investigation is currently underway. Less than 7-8 hours later, a new tragedy occurred – a collision with a passenger bus registered in RSM, with citizens, both from RSM and other nationalities. “Tragedies are common and are what touches us, what makes us sympathetic, regardless of the nationality of the people who are no longer among us,” said Janev.
He announced that the Bulgarian government is considering a Day of Mourning for the victims. The two prime ministers declined to comment on political issues, saying today was a day of empathy. Janev said that he has always believed in dialogue and seeking solutions in the interest of both peoples. We are together in good and in bad, we are brotherly nations and we must help each other in good and in bad, said Zoran Zaev. When the neighbor is good and we are good, he said on the occasion of the elections in our country, but refused to comment on political issues.
Janev expressed condolences to the families of the victims and at the same time said that the Bulgarian state in all its organs related to security, disaster management is working fast and is now in place.
He pointed out that the general conclusion of the medical staff is that the hospitalized in the next one or two days will be able to be transported to the places where they live.
We have been coordinating with Prime Minister Zaev since the early morning hours, the authorities of both countries have coordination by sectors and ministries.
The Prime Minister of RSM expressed his condolences for the two tragedies in which people died.
He said he had visited the injured in hospital and said they were in good condition and there was no danger to their lives.
“Coordination is at a high level – between the two prime ministers and between the services,” he said, adding that “the pain is great for both peoples.”
The Prime Minister of RSM did not comment on the probable causes of the tragedy, saying that the experts should decide.
