We need to prepare for Thursday, because we are facing great challenges, both social and economic, which I think we will discuss today and see what is the best solution,” said the Deputy Prime Minister and Vice President of SDSM, Fatmir Bytyqi, before the start at the sessions of the Executive and Central Board of the Social Democratic Union.
Regarding the announced resignation of the Prime Minister and leader of SDSM, Zoran Zaev, Bytyqi stressed that he considers such a move a democratic act, Sloboden Pecat writes.
– We must get used to such democratic acts, but that does not mean that we do not need Prime Minister Zaev. I think that at this moment the society needs him and the government in the country needs him further. So I do not know if today on the agenda we will discuss his resignation, but I think there are more important topics. The energy crisis, the economic crisis, the pandemic that obviously has a new wave and of course the overall challenge in which the country finds itself, added Bytyqi.
He added that the party leadership does not shy away from responsibility for the results of the local elections, because “it is a moral and ethical, but of course a democratic act.”
Asked if he had any ideas for a possible new leader of SDSM, Bytyqi only briefly answered: “no, it is still early”.
The Minister of Interior and Vice President of SDSM, Oliver Spasovski, before the sessions stated that they will discuss the current political situation in the country.
– We will discuss everything that is in the interest of the citizens, the state, staying on the path that the state is moving on, peace, security, stability. The most important thing is for the citizens to feel safe and that will be the discussion of the Executive and the Central Board, said Spasovski.
According to party announcements, the main topics of the sessions are expected to be the resignation of Prime Minister and SDSM leader Zoran Zaev, analysis of election results and recent developments on the political scene after the submitted initiative for confidence in the Government.
In the past few days, SDSM informed that daily consultations and working meetings are held with the partners in the coalition from the parliamentary majority, as well as within the highest party leadership.
– SDSM continues to talk and initiate cooperation with all progressive and democratic forces, in order to ensure the stable future of our country and all our people, said the party.
