The national UNESCO committees of North Macedonia and Albania, chaired by the countries’ ministers of culture Irena Stefoska and Elva Margariti, will hold their first working meeting in Ohrid on Monday to coordinate future management of the region in accordance with the UN cultural agency’s latest report.
According to the Ministry of Culture, North Macedonia’s Minister of Environment and Physical Planning of North Macedonia Naser Nuredini and his Albanian counterpart, Minister of Tourism and Environment Blendi Klosi, will also take part in the working meeting.
Topics to be discussed include the UNESCO World Heritage Committee’s draft decision on the natural and cultural heritage of the Ohrid region and the priorities and steps to be taken to preserve the Ohrid region’s world heritage status.
The culture ministers will sign a resolution to preserve the Ohrid region’s world heritage status as well as a program for cultural cooperation between 2021 and 2026.
