Defense Minister Radmila Shekerinska is paying a visit to Italy as of Wednesday, at the invitation of Italian counterpart Lorenzo Guerini.
Shekerinska on Wednesday will meet with Minister Guerini, and is set to hold meetings at Italy’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Senate during the working visit.
In addition, Minister Shekerinska at the NATO Defense College in Rome will deliver an address on the experience from the first year of North Macedonia’s NATO membership.
North Macedonia and Italy have been cooperating in the area of defense since 1997, including civil and military cooperation, logistics, air force, training and education. The two countries also cooperate at a regional level, as part of the SEDM initiative, and in international missions – the UNIFIL Italian contingent in Lebanon, as well as in the KFOR Kosovo force led by Italian General Franco Federici, where the Macedonian Army participates with 44 army members, the Ministry of Defense said in a press release.
