Defense Minister Radmila Shekerinska does not expect a turnaround in relations with Bulgaria over North Macedonia’s EU accession, considering the absence of counterpart for discussion and a caretaker government, adding that all Skopje can do is remind everyone that we have fulfilled our tasks and expect the same type of commitment and consistency from the EU.
“There are some aspects that do not depend on us. We cannot form the Bulgarian government and cannot create the negotiator on the other side. This is something we cannot affect and cannot project,” Minister Shekerinska told reporters on Thursday.
According to her, North Macedonia has demonstrated that one rule is always valid – do your job to prevent failure because of your shortcomings.
“Every European Commission report, all reports related to domestic reforms, including the one yesterday by Freedom House, have shown that we have managed to make breakthroughs in all key issues that held the country back. We have shown year after year that democracy, human rights, media freedom and rule of law move forward,” noted Shekerinska.
