Health Minister Venko Filipche said on Thursday that next week six more vaccination sites are set to open across the country, allowing over 10,000 nationals to get inoculated daily. So far, a total of 60,000 citizens have received shots.
Regarding long queues at Skopje-based vaccination posts, the Minister told reporters that the issue was based on appointment mix ups and has already been resolved.
“There’s enough waiting room for people to practice social distancing. Although it doesn’t present a risk, the issue will be completely resolved when the mass vaccination sites open on Tuesday. Chinese jabs will be distributed across the country on Monday so that mass inoculation can start. This system will allow for over 10,000 citizens to get vaccinated daily,” Filipche told reporters during the handover of a donation from the Republic of Slovakia to the Clinic for Children’s Diseases.
The Health Minister added that so far approximately 60,000 citizens have gotten vaccinated, including those over 70 years old and critical infrastructure workers.
“According to our calculations, 18% of nationals over 70 have been immunized,” Filipche said.
