Justice Minister Bojan Marichikj met in Brussels on Wednesday with Bulgarian MEP and European Parliament rapporteur for North Macedonia, Ilhan Kyuchyuk, and discussed rule of law and judicial reforms, the Ministry of Justice said in a press release.
Ahead of the European Parliament’s Thursday vote on the resolution on North Macedonia, Marichikj and Kyuchyuk also discussed progress made in the judicial system and the fight against corruption.
Minister Marichikj, the press release read, briefed MEP Kyuchyuk on legislative changes set to enable holding online trials in North Macedonia. In that regard, the country will receive assistance from the European Union and other foreign supporters. For now, over 100 courts will be completely digitalized, with more to follow in the future.
Marichikj and Kyuchyuk also discussed at the meeting the upcoming census in North Macedonia, set to be conducted in line with global standards, as confirmed by EUROSTAT.
