According to experts, one vaccine dose is enough for patients who have recovered from COVID-19, Health Minister Venko Filipche told a press briefing on Wednesday when asked why they have not been included in the immunization plan.
He underlined that the plan is flexible and can change in line with new recommendations and vaccine availability. Stakeholders are also discussing issuing these people certificates that serve as guarantee they have developed immunity, in case they have to travel abroad for work reasons.
“We’re waiting for the European Commission to decide whether certificates will be obligatory and we’re prepared to issue them to citizens,” Filipche added.
The European Commission is set to adopt on Wednesday the proposal for implementing a digital health certificate for EU citizens traveling within the Union, which will serve as proof that a person has been vaccinated against COVID-19, has received a negative test result or has recovered from COVID-19.
The health certificate, EC representatives said, is intended for EU nationals. Regarding travelers from Western Balkans and other parts of the world, the Commission is set to discuss with the World Health Organization and the International Civil Aviation Organization which restrictions can be lifted with implementation of technical, interoperational and international standards.
