Health Minister Venko Filipche told Wednesday’s press conference that the nationwide curfew between 10 pm and 5 am remains in place amid the third wave of infections and the surge in coronavirus new cases and active cases.
Filipche announced that the Commission for Infectious Diseases will decide over possible new recommendations for introducing additional restrictions at its meeting early next week.
“This morning, we held a meeting with the members of the Commission for Infectious Diseases and analyzed the latest data of percentage of positive cases over the past days, the average based on bi-weekly cases, and we concluded that there was a significant increase in cases in Valandovo, Krushevo, Kavadarci and Prilep and that there are still a significant number of patients who are hospitalized, and there is a surge in number of cases in Skopje, especially in Gostivar and Veles. We decided nationwide curfew between 10 pm and 5 am to remain in place and that we expect results by end of this week, over the weekend, or the beginning of the next week. On possible additional restrictions, the Commission for Infectious Diseases would decide at its meeting early next week,” Filipche said.
He briefed that at the moment there are 11,889 active cases, which is an increase by over 5,000 active cases in the last month, from February 15 to March 15.
Filipche said that 1,100 hospital beds are occupied in Skopje adding that all Covid centers in the country are functional.
