Being a friend of Bulgaria and of North Macedonia, Greece will try to facilitate the resolution of their differences in any way it can, Greek Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nikos Dendias, said in an interview with Euronews.
In the interview, Greece’s top diplomat reiterated the country’s support for the European prospects of the region, MIA reports from Athens.
“After the Thessaloniki Agenda, Greece is a firm believer of the European prospect of the Balkan Peninsula and of course of the Western Balkans as well. And in particular, now we are speaking about North Macedonia and Albania. And being a friend also of Bulgaria and of North Macedonia, we will try to facilitate the resolution of their differences in any way we can. We believe that we have a common future together, all the countries of the Balkans. And I am sure everybody will appreciate it,” Dendias told Euronews.
Asked whether Greece is going to take any concrete initiative on that, the FM noted that “initiative is a very strong word,” adding that the country is friends with everybody and tries to be helpful towards everybody.
“But, again, I have to say we have to look at the big picture and the big picture is the future of the Balkans within the European Union,” Minister Dendias stressed.
