As of Tuesday, the ivermectin drug that is used to treat COVID-19 patients has become available in pharmacies nationwide, the Health Ministry said in a press release.
The drug, it added, is only sold with a medical prescription.
According to the Ministry, ivermectin can be taken by patients treated at home and in hospitals, as well as preventively by those who have had contact with a coronavirus patient, but only if advised so by a physician.
The retail price of ERMETIN (ivermectin) in pharmacies in North Macedonia stands at Mden 299.
“There are multiple ongoing studies that aim to evaluate the efficiency of ivermectin treatment of COVID-19 patients, but preliminary results suggest that the drug has positive effects as preventive treatment of people who have had contact with a coronavirus patient, as well as those that show mild to severe symptoms,” the press release read.
