The Interior Ministry (MoI) is set to launch a free phone line for the citizens to report illegal parties and groups of more than four people over the holidays, it was announced Monday.
“Today we will launch a project involving a free phone line where the citizens anonymously can report organized events and parties and to be partners in curbing the spread of the new virus,” Interior Minister Oliver Spasovski told Slobodna TV’s “Morning Briefing” show.
Police patrolling will step up during the holiday season. “One of the key tasks is to control how the measures preventing the coronavirus from spreading are being observed, because we are all aware that the virus is highly contagious,” he said.
Spasovski once again pleaded with the citizens to adhere to the measures to protect public health so as to prevent the hospitals from being overwhelmed.
“I want to thank the citizens who respect the measures, but unfortunately there are also selfish people. Police have stepped up controls, which is proving to be effective,” he said adding that police have been busting parties and gatherings of people almost on daily basis.
