The voting in the early mayoral elections kicks off Friday in Shtip.
The elected mayor will remain in that seat for nine months, until the next regular municipal elections to be held in 2021.
Persons in quarantine, self-isolation or home treatment due to COVID-19 are exercising their right to vote as of early Friday.
The President of the Municipal Election Commission (MEC) Shtip, Senka Andreeva said that infected people at home in front of a medical election boards.
The first round of elections is scheduled on Dec. 13 and sick and frail people and convicts can cast their vote on Dec. 12.
Shtip has a total of 77 polling stations, which will be open from 7 am until 7 pm on election day.
According to the State Election Commission, 39,605 voters are registered in Voters List in the municipality of Shtip.
The elections will be conducted under strict health protocols ensuring the protection of people’s health.
The candidates Simon Polikarp of Integra-Macedonian Conservative Party, Sashko Nikolov of SDSM, Trajche Mitev, independent candidate, Goce Angelov of the Future in Our Hands coalition, and Lazar Naumov of TMRO ran in the elections for mayor of Shtip.
