“Nationalism is the greatest enemy of peace,” as George Orwell put it, and that is why I think there is a huge difference between nationalism and patriotism. Nationalism nurtures a cultural heritage in the language of its nation and leads to a sense of rivalry with others, and disrespect and intolerance of subordinates. While, patriotism is more based on empathy and valuing a value system towards its nation. “If I am a patriot, I love my people, but at the same time I respect others, I respect diversity, while in nationalism – I love my own so much that I can not think of others.”
