News of the day: “Macedonian Elections Perspectives” – conference of CIVIL on election reforms
CIVIL today held a conference dedicated to election reforms. At the Conference, discussions were held on the need of reforms in the overall electoral system, and more specifically addressed topics related to the Electoral Code, electoral model, Voters Register, political financing and the media and elections. State top officials, ministers, leaders of political parties, NGO’s and experts participated in the conference. Prime Minister Zoran Zaev, who is in New York attending the 74th UN Session, addressed the Conference with a video message.
The Conference was announced by the President of CIVIL, Xhabir Deralla, after which the President of the Republic of North Macedonia, Stevo Pendarovski, opened the conference, who in his address before the participants highlighted that it is particularly important to discuss such an issue as the elections, but also that democracy is much more than elections.
Prime Minister Zoran Zaev, through a video message addressed the participants of the Conference “Macedonian Elections Perspectives” and expressed confidence that the discussion will result in constructive guidelines for the legal and institutional framework for the electoral system, which the government will take into consideration with special attention.

Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany, Thomas Gerberich, in his introductory speech at the Conference on Elections Reforms: Macedonian Elections Perspectives, stated that it is high time for our society to unite and for all ethnicities to cooperate closely with the purpose of overcoming divisions.
Ministers and senior representatives of political parties also addressed the conference, which was broadcasted live on CIVIL’s online channels.
The event is part of the project “Free citizens for a free society”, financed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany.
German Bundestag tomorrow to officially give green light to start of negotiations
German Bundestag tomorrow will also officially give green light to the start of the negotiations with North Macedonia and Albania, while Deputy Prime Minister for European Affairs, Bujar Osmani, will participate at the session upon the invitation of the President of the German Parliament, Wolfgang Schauble.
The ruling German parties CDU and SPD yesterday reached an agreement to approve a date for the start of negotiations with the European Union for North Macedonia and Albania, and support is expected by at least one more party, the Greens, reported Deutche Welle. The decision was made yesterday at a meeting of the coalition partners in the German Government.

Meeting Zaev – Mitsotakis
The Prime Minister of the Republic of North Macedonia, Zoran Zaev, yesterday met with the Prime Minister of Greece, Kiriakos Mitsotakis, during the UN General Assembly. At the meeting, Prime Minister Zaev outlined that the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia is maximally focused on a constructive approach in building mutual partnership based on friendship and mutual interest for a prosperous region in the interest of the citizens of the two countries.
The Greek Prime Minister expressed his support for opening negotiations for North Macedonia with the EU, and it was emphasized that consistent and timely implementation of the Prespa Agreement is key for enhancing the relations and securing a European perspective for North Macedonia.
Janeva and Boki 13 will first review the evidence, and then will give statements for the “Racket” case
The third suspect in the “Racket” case, former special public prosecutor Katica Janeva, just as first suspect Bojan Jovanovski-Boki 13, yesterday in the Prosecutor’s Office for organized crime and corruption requested insight in the evidence, and then for her to use her right to give a statement. Second suspect Zoran Milevski-Kiceec with an “amen” of the PPO, will be released for house arrest.
Janeva’s lawyer, Irena Frckoska, after leaving the PPO yesterday said that her client will first use her right to personally examine the evidence, and then will give a statement. She announced that the insight will be made on Thursday.
UNCTAD Secretary-General officially selects Angelovska as Woman – Ambassador for Digital Trade
Minister of Finance Nina Angelovska, within the 74th session of the UN General Assembly, was selected as one of the first “women – ambassadors for digital trade” in the world, last night in New York.
This exceptional and unique recognition was given by Mukhisa Kituyi, UNCTAD Secretary-General – the United Nations body for trade, investment and development. In addition to Angelovska, five more women entrepreneurs from around the world received this title from UNCTAD.
