Golubovska: “We need the red trade unions, to lead the struggle on the streets!”

“In the following period we need to end with the careless use of the words: equal, social justice and justice – as terms. With their cohesion in social life and with how they are reflected on an individual, for example, in the village of Psaca, in Kriva Palanka. Does that reach a person or not?!”, said civic activist Jasmina Globuvska in her speech as a panelist at the conference “Society Without Borders”  that was held yesterday and was organized by CIVIL-Center for Freedom, at hotel City Park in Skopje.

“I believe that the greatest support should come from the independent unions, because in this country we have no idea what workers’ rights are. Therefore, we cannot speak about social justice, because if a person is not informed on how to fight, how to overcome that bureaucratic barrier, there is nothing we can do. We lack education in that part…Zivko Mitrevski destroyed the entire country. They are not even yellow trade unions. They are classic: brown unions! They are extreme, tied to the executive government. We need the red unions, we need them to lead the struggle on the streets for every one of us, because there is no social justice! There is no social justice if 1% of the population is living with millions on their bank accounts, while the other 99% are living with 200 euros or on 2 dollars per day, we have performed research on that topic”, stressed Golubovska.

“Let’s not forget one category of citizens, who are on the streets for 12 years, if not more, and those are the redundant workers. If there is someone who needs to have their problems solved, it is not the external education, it is the redundant workers. And let’s finish with that. Even though most of these people have died during these years of protest, if nothing else, we owe them a big apology as a society, regardless of who is to blame for their situation. For all of us, among else, to repay them for what they have created previously and to understand that that is how things go. Those who have previously been building must not be forgotten by the coming generations, who are using what has been left, to be used in the function of civil society”, said Golubovska at the “Society Without Borders” conference.

The statement is part of the project “Society Without Borders”, which CIVIL – Center for Freedom is implementing with the support of the German “Heinrich Bὅll” Foundation. The goal of the project is to promote and educate the citizens of Macedonia about the Citizen’s Charter, a global document for promoting civil rights and active participation of citizens in decision-making processes.
